Baskets

I started out weaving baskets with ponderosa pine needles until I was up in Roslyn, Washington and found the 11"-12" long pine needles. I tried it on one of my baskets and the difference was amazing. My baskets became stronger and functional.  Then I added an American Indian technique of gently heat treating the basket to preserve it in its own resin.  Now my baskets can actually hold fruit, bread, candy.  Utility is an underlying component you will frequently see in my art.  85$-125$

Sewn with 100% cotton thread using the bird foot stitch, I wrapped the top of this candy dish with Jadeite beads.  The natural colors of the stone accentuated the natural hint of green in the pine needles which were heat treated while they were still green.
